Below is the last letter written by Esther. This letter was sent to Liisa Matilda Gronroos, Brush Prairie, WA and aunt to Esther and sister to Esther's mother Margaretta Impola Yliniemi.
Dear Aunt,
Letting you know that I am here in the hospital, already two weeks yesterday. The doctor said at least one more week yet. I have kidney poisoning and I am expecting a baby in February if all goes well. The doctor wants me to stay in the hospital untill then, but that asks for much money and where would that be available, but I must stay untill the poison clears up from my kidneys. I was quite ill when I came here. The poisons have cleared some.
We sure have problems, one thing after another but have to accept things as they come.
My eye sight was very poor but it is improving a little, but I can't see to write very long. My eyes get dim.
I will write again another time. Be left in God's peace.
Written with love, Esther.
This letter was written a few weeks before she died. Arthur drowned with Esther's sister Ethel about six months later on June 29, 1931. On that day Liisa Matilda Gronroos was buried as she died on the 23rd of June.
